LeBlond’s boys used a smothering half-court trap to hold Gallatin to its lowest scoring output of the season, and claim a 37-27 win at GHS on Tuesday night. The Bulldogs, now 14-9, look to end the regular season on a winning note this Friday at Lathrop.

The Eagles’ dogged Gallatin efforts to kick start their offense all night long by putting intense pressure out front on Bulldog guards as they entered the front court. Though scoring suffered for both teams in the slow pace, the Eagles kept the lead by sneaking baskets on the baseline. The Bulldogs matched their visitors with a constricting zone defense of their own but could not make a dent in the Eagle lead.

LeBlond led, 14-6, after the opening period and 23-12 at halftime. Gallatin held a 15-14 scoring advantage in the second half but could get no closer than seven points to the lead.

Marcus Lacy paced the Bulldogs with 10 points.

The Bulldogs completed their eighth consecutive winning campaign in the Grand River Conference on Friday by beating the Stanberry Bulldogs, 67-34, to finish 5-3 in league play. Gallatin boys teams have now finished better than .500 in the GRC in 15 of the last 16 seasons.

Despite a 21-point third quarter effort by Stanberry, the game was over early. Gallatin jumped to leads of 18-5 after the opening quarter and 35-7 at intermission.

Jason McGee scored a season-high 18 points to lead Gallatin. Andrew Adkison and Marcus Lacy added 14 and 10 points, respectively.
