City of Gallatin board meeting
City Administrator Toby Dougherty announced his resignation to the Gallatin Board of Aldermen after returning from a closed session of the meeting held Monday, Feb. 14. Mr. Dougherty has accepted a position as the assistant city manager in Hays, Kan. His resignation will be effective March 11.
During Monday’s regular meeting, Mr. Dougherty stated that the last natural gas transfer to BNY has been made and the gas revenue account closed.
Bills for the sewer project were paid in the amount of $88,563.67.
Mr. Dougherty submitted an updated job classification list for employees, which the board accepted.
He informed the board of a meeting at 10 a.m. on Feb. 16 regarding a quote on a new warning siren for the city.
Mr. Dougherty discussed street improvements for the upcoming summer.
Bills in the amount of $132,856.06 were approved for payment.
Police Chief Mark Richards reported on activity from Feb. 1 to Feb. 14: summons issued: 2-animal abuse; 3-dogs at large; 1-felony property damage; 1-assault on an officer; 1-trespass; 1-property damage; 1-assault. Reports Taken: 2-burglaries; 2-property damage; 2-accidents. Pound: 3-dogs adopted out by officers; 4-dogs taken to Wayside Waifs in Kansas City by GAAWA; 1-dog put down.
Chief Richards informed the board that currently there are five dogs in the pound.
During comments by aldermen, Pat Baker commented on sidewalks that need repair on Main Street. She also wanted to know about the 15 minutes parking signs, which are on order. She stated that gravel needs placed on the south side of their real estate office, south entrance into the elementary school, and the south entrance to the high school off of Woodruff Street.
Bob Snidow had complaints on the roads torn up by the sewer construction. He also has had compliments about the city police patrolling more.
Gene Caldwell asked who was inspecting the sewer project as it gets completed. Mr. Dougherty stated that the inspector is from Snyder Engineering.
Mayor Thomas expressed his appreciation for Mr. Toby Dougherty’s hard work in the last year.
The board entered into closed session.
