James Akey Lawhead, age 79, Weatherby, formerly St. Joseph, died at his home Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005.
Funeral services for James Lawhead were held Saturday, Feb. 12, at Bram Funeral Home in Maysville. Burial was in Ridgeville Cemetery, south of Amity. Memorials may be given to Comfort Care Hospice in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 350, Maysville, 64469.
James Akey Lawhead, age 79, Weatherby, formerly St. Joseph, died at his home Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005.
Mr. Lawhead was born Nov. 10, 1925, near Stewartsville, and was a graduate of Amity high school.
He served in the Navy during World War II.
Mr. Lawhead was a former resident of Amity and a longtime resident of St. Joseph, where he worked for the city as a superintendent of the street and sewer department for over 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Betty Lawhead on Aug. 23, 1999. He also was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Beulah B. (Akey) Lawhead; brother and sister-in-law, Calvin C. and Ruth Lawhead; brother-in-law, Charles Fay; and niece, Judy Ann Fay.
Survivors include his wife of the home, Lila E. (Lizar) Lawhead; one stepdaughter, Jackie Scherler, Lake Viking; two sisters, Viola Fay, Scottsdale, Ariz.; and Ruth Ann Brown, Rapid City, S.D.; and four stepgrandchildren,
