Daviess County Swim Program for summer 2004 was financed by fees from students and local donations. Donations were received from the following: Mary Virginia Croy; Betty Trimm; Gallatin Lions Club; Learn and Do Club; Omicron Pi Chapter Beta Sigma Phi; Y.E.S. Club; Laureate Delta Rho Chapter; Daviess County Business Women; Phil and Nancy Tate; Dowell Investments from the holiday recital; Farmers Bank of Northern Missouri; B.T.C. Bank; Landmark; donations in memory of Martha Page Worrell, in memory of Terry Murray, in memory of Arlene Whitt, in memory of Pat Tate, and in memory of R.L. Trimm.

The program lasts five weeks: two weeks for Gallatin students, two weeks for the rest of the county students, and one week for all county three and under and four and five year-olds. Last year a morning exercise class met two weeks for adults.

Jessica King Gannon was the instructor, assisted by area student aids. All monies from fees and donations are spent on supplies and wages for the Water Safety Instructor (Jessica), with remaining funds going to the aids.

The city pool is made available cost free for the program by the Gallatin City Council with pool preparation provided by the pool manager who is Mary Jane Story, and the lifeguards.

“This program is a valuable and worthwhile program giving county children the affordable opportunity to learn to swim, combined with water safety instructions so they may safely enjoy area pools and lakes,” said Ann Shweizer, Water Safety Chairman of Daviess County. “Thanks for your continued support.”

Donations for the swim program for this year 2005 may be left at Farmers Bank.
