The filing deadline for candidates to declare for the April 5 election ballots was January 18. In Gallatin city elections, incumbent John Thomas has filed to run for the position of mayor and incumbent Bob Snidow has filed for east ward alderman. In the only contested position, incumbent Gene Caldwell will run against George Pontious for west ward aldermen.

In school board elections, vacancies are to be filled for the office of three board members for thee-year terms.

In contested elections, six have filed at Tri-County R-7: Rodney Odom, Richard Dustman, Brandon Hoover, Mike Huston, Roger Savage and Boyd Harrison.

Voters will choose from three of the five who have filed at Winston R-6: Melvin Lee, Barbara Youtsey, Steve Lee, Shelly Mason and Bob Clark.

Filing for uncontested board seats are: Gallatin R-5: Sandra Alden, Alan Lunsford and Clint Vanatta; Pattonsburg R-2: Craig Lambert, Eugene Thatcher and Ben deJong; and North Daviess R-3: Beverly Hunter, Chris Nelson and Jason Lewis.
