Livingston County Sheriff’s Office Shop with a Deputy
On Saturday, Dec. 11, LCSO Officers held the “Shop with a Deputy” which is sponsored in four regions of the state by the Missouri Deputy Sheriffs’ Association (MDSA). Deputy Kim Valbracht had taken time with the Division of Family Service workers in Livingston, Grundy, Daviess, and Caldwell Counties and selected a total of seven families and 17 children to “Shop with a Deputy” as the MDSA had given a total of $1,350 to spend on the children for Christmas. Chillicothe Wal-Mart donated additional money to this program so we could reach more children.
On Saturday morning the families and children paired up with Deputy Kim Valbracht, LCSO Deputies Sindy Fitzpatrick, Teresa Eaton, Jim Lightner, Kurt Reith, Detention Officer Laura Mason, Reserve Deputy John Valbracht, MDSA President Judy Farnsworth, MDSA Treasurer Kathy Harmon, and Region 1 Co-Representative David Keller from the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office.
Many of the children had such big hearts, as they did not want to spend their allotted money all on themselves. Several of the children bought presents for other friends and family as they had the spirit of Christmas. Each child left with many wonderful toys and clothes for Christmas.
The LCSO employees, MDSA officials, then took the seven families and 17 children to lunch and McDonalds donated happy meals to all the children. Deputy Kim Valbracht reported that two “Angels” who witnessed the “Shop with a Deputy” program at Wal-Mart, donated money to buy the adults lunch at McDonalds.
We appreciate the LCSO employees/deputies, Chillicothe Wal-Mart, McDonalds, the two “Angels” who were shopping at Wal-Mart, and the Missouri Deputy Sheriff’s Association for their time, contributions, and dedicated service to our communities. Hopefully these officers were able to touch the hearts of the families and children.
Hopefully these officers were able to touch the hearts and build a bond with the families and children. The employees reported they did not know who had more fun, the children or the LCSO employees.
Livingston County Sheriff’s Office is one of the few offices in the State of Missouri where every deputy and the sheriff are members of the MDSA. Should you wish to contact or contribute to the MDSA, they may be reached at, Missouri Deputy Sheriffs’ Association, 508 Mulberry Street, Jefferson City, Missouri 65101, phone number 1-800-373-MDSA, or email at [email protected].
On behalf of all the employees at the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, we wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year.
