Gallatin Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) met Nov. 10 at the home of Fallis Froman with nine members present. Regent Beverly Ward began with a Thanksgiving welcome followed by the opening ritual, Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and the American Creed. The secretary read minutes of the October meeting followed by the treasurer’s report. Mary Lee Ellis reported that Good Citizens applications are due Dec. 3. Delegates elected for state conference April 28 to May 1 in Springfield are Beverly Ward and Betty Tingler. Fallis Froman was elected delegate to national conference in Washington D.C., 2005. Regent read letters from Tammassee and Groves Cottage. Lucille Bruce gave a report on her research of the Daviess County Courthouse. Fallis Froman gave speical recognition to our own veteran Evelyn Hockensmith who was a WAVE for three years and then presented a program “Four Men of God,” the lives of four chaplains in WWII. Meeting adjourned with hostess Fallis Froman serving refreshments. Next meeting was on Dec. 8 for Christmas covered dish luncheon at the home of Evelyn Hockensmith with each member bringing canned goods for Green Hills and time to enjoy the love and joy of Christmas. Members then went to the Daviess County Library for a flag presentation.

Since the August silent auction, Chapter BQ PEO Sisterhood has enjoyed a variety of activities. Members purchased luminaries at the Relay for Life in honor and in memory of members. Prior to Chautauqua, members cleaned the streets in our section of town. In September the state organizer came to provide the sisterhood with valuable information Local artist Wanda Taylor shared some of the animal pictures she has done with colored pencils. Donita Smith, Chillicothe Chapter JW, discussed her work in the children’s division of Family Services. Anita Riley’s kindergarten performed Thanksgiving poems and songs when members hosted the November birthday part at Lake Viking Care Center. The December cookie exchange was the final activity for the 2004 year. The next meeting is Feb. 7, when dues will be due.

Members of Laureate Delta Rho Chapter Beta Sigma Phi enjoyed the interesting Santa Claus collection at the home of Bob and Susan Ann Aulgur at their December meeting. Following the tour, the members went to Breadeaux for business and refreshments. Plans for the Christmas family were made as well as plans for January meeting.
