Gallatin Clubs

The Daviess County Business Women’s Association held their monthly business meeting on Nov. 9 at the Gallatin Methodist church with Darlene Patton and Hazele Tomlinson as hostesses. Nineteen members and two guests, Brenda Caruthers and Tracy Lindsey, enjoyed an early Thanksgiving dinner catered by Lynch’s deli, followed by the November business meeting. After the meeting adjourned, the ladies had their annual auction to raise money for the yearly scholarship awarded to a Daviess County High School senior girl. Lola Critten did a wonderful job of keeping the bids on the right track and the amount collected exceeded all other auctions. Birthday raffles were won by Darlene Patton and Norma Griffin. The next meeting is on Dec. 14 at the Methodist Church with Mary Ellen Barker and Sharon Whitt as hostesses. Members are reminded that we will gather at 5 p.m. in order to wrap Christmas presents for the adopted family and “Angel Tree” child and deliver the Christmas plates. A gift exchange will follow dinner and business meeting.

Xi XI Beta, chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met Monday, Nov. 1, at the home of Patty Hubbard. There were six members present. Membership, service project (Angel Trees), legacy and other chapter business was discussed. The chapter will meet at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 24, at the Farmers Bank and BTC Bank to set up the Angel Trees. The program topic was on genealogy presented by Patty Hubbard. Next meeting will be our Christmas party and revealing day at 6:30 on Tuesday Dec. 7, at the home of Misse Tolen.

The November meetings of Laureate Delta Rho were held at the homes of Betty Bird and Nita Cragg. During the November 1 meeting, Betty Bird presented a program about farming including several clever items about farming. Plans were made and items brought to prepare “thankful baskets” to deliver to some special people. Those members who attended the square dance sponsored by Alpha Zeta Delta reported having a good time and coming home with a special award. During the November 15 meeting, members enjoyed reminiscing as Bob Teagarden showed some slides taken around Gallatin during the early 60’s. Plans were finalized for the Christmas meeting ‘Santa Tour’. A sister chapter in Pattonsburg is planning a homes tour on Dec. 5.
