Funeral services for Madeline Fletchall were held Saturday at Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home, Grant City. Interment was in Fletchall Cemetery, Grant City.

Madeline Combs Fletchall, 90, died on Nov. 2, 2004.

Mrs. Fletchall was born to Solomon L. and Nettie (Mosbarger) Combs in the Allendale community on March 6, 1914.

She spent her life between her parents’ home and the home of her Uncle Johnnie and Aunt Becky Combs Rankin of Allendale. She attended school in the Allendale area; Redding, Iowa; and graduated from Grant City in 1931.

Upon graduation, she received a teaching certificate and did substitute teaching until she married. Madeline later taught for one year at the Molar School and worked at the local supply store, later known as Hy-Vee.

On March 14, 1937, she was united in marriage to Elva Fletchall. She and Elva spent most of their married lives farming in the Irena area.

She belonged to Irena Willing Workers Service Club and was a member of the Grant City Christian Church.

Those preceding Madeline in death were her husband, Elva; six sisters, Ottie and Hazel Combs, Deva Wilson, Donnell Johston Boyd, Mabel Link and Lavina Staton; and three brothers, Ralph, Lewis and Lester Combs.

Survivors include her five children, Colleen DeField, Kansas City; Lewis of Independence, Earl Dean of Sedalia, Wanda Batson of Gallatin, and David Duane of Grant City; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
