After several weeks of “letters to the editor” concerning Joe Snyder’s column, I can no longer keep silent. He honorably served our country during World War II and just because he writes concerning his experiences and also thoughts about what is taking place in our world, must we criticize him so unmercifully? He has legitimate concerns about our standing in the world.

As a child, I remember crawling under the old car to get serial numbers off the tires. We have some old war ration books, with stamps we had to have to get shoes, sugar, coffee, etc. My mother, grandmother and aunt kept the farm going while my dad was in the service. All this time, Joe was serving his country – our country. Let’s at least give him credit for all the years he lived in our community and supported Gallatin 100%
