Superintendent Todd Willhite reported on repairs done to the roof of the elementary and the roof at the high school during the regular meeting of the North Daviess R-3 Board of Education held Monday, Oct. 11, at the high school. He also reported that the district would be replacing a milk cooler and a bus radiator.

Program evaluations were heard during new business. An evaluation of the district’s curriculum prepared by Linda Sarver was presented by Mr. Willhite. The overall rating of the curriculum is excellent.

The auditor’s report was presented and accepted. R. Scott Stephens bid for conducting the 2005-2006 audit was approved.

The preliminary numbers from the Annual Performance Report was discussed. Final APR numbers will be posted by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) on Nov. 1.

The calendar was amended to add Feb. 18, 2005, as an early dismissal at 12:40, so that teachers could attend an in-service.

During administrative reports, Ms. Kirby stated that the elementary students had taken the Gate Reading Test last week and that all students would be taking the Stanford test this week. She reported on softball, junior high basketball, booster club, and McTeacher’s night at McDonald’s. She included a discussion about the DARE program.

During financial matters, bills were paid as presented.

The board held executive session for student items.

Next board meeting was set for 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 15, at the high school.

Also present were Superintendent Todd Willhite; Board Secretary Beverly Hunter; High School Principal Julie Kirby; and Charlotte Claussen.
