Funeral services for Tommie Hobbs were held Saturday at the Resthaven Mortuary of Trenton. Burial was in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens at Trenton. The family has suggested memorial contributions be left to the American Heart Association.
Tommie Hobbs, 89, Trenton, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at the Eastview Manor Care Center, where he had been a resident since 2001.
Mr. Hobbs was born on Nov. 9, 1914, in Harrison County, the son of Ross and Sena (Ellis) Hobbs.
He had farmed in Harrison County for several years. He then began working construction and lived in various places while he was foreman for the Missouri Valley Dredging Company. After he retired from construction work, he moved to the Hickory community.
Mr. Hobbs was married to Myrtle Jolly on Dec. 7, 1937, at Princeton. She died on April 10, 1966. He then married Lavina Jane Conway on Dec. 4, 1967, at Clarinda, Iowa. She died on Aug. 13, 2002.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters; two brothers; a granddaughter, Noreece Hobbs, and a great-grandson, Dylar Radaich.
Mr. Hobbs was a member of the Cedar Grove Assembly of God.
Survivors include three sons, Bill of Trenton, Raymond of Grandbury, Texas, and Charles of Debary, Fla.; one daughter, Mary Ellen Boone of Hesperia, Mich.; two sisters, Minnie Huffman of Gallatin, and Naomi Stretch of Chillicothe; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
