Gallatin Animal Control and Gallatin Area Animal Welfare Alliance (GAAWA) will be sponsoring a booth at the upcoming Chautauqua Sept. 17-18. The booth will be open on Friday from 4-7 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dog lovers will have the opportunity to stop by the booth to visit the dogs that are up for adoption and also get information about the Gallatin Animal Control and GAAWA. These two groups work together as a team to keep homeless dogs safe and to find loving homes for them.
Because of limited space at the Gallatin Pound and the philosophy to keep it a low kill facility, it is important to locate loving homes for the dogs as quickly as possible. Dog lovers in the community are invited to visit the pound when looking for a new best friend. A homeless dog will make a great pet.
While the homeless dogs are housed at the pound, it takes money to provide shelter, dog food, and medical care. All basic care is provided by the Gallatin police and volunteers. Affordable veterinary care in Trenton provides the medical care at a discounted rate.
Donations are always welcome. Volunteers are always needed to provide the love and human contact these homeless dogs need to help socialize them to become great pets for people looking to adopt. Individuals may call the Gallatin Police Department at 660-663-3580 to make donation or offer volunteer help.
For dog lovers that are unable to adopt a pet because of where they live or are unable to take on the responsibility of a dog, donating money to care for the homeless dogs or volunteering time to provide loving attention to the dogs can be a winning solution.
