Leading off the 2004 Chautauqua Parade will be the Grand Marshals, Danny and Karen Critten.
The parade will organize at Water Wizard Car Wash at 3:30 p.m. and proceed north on Highway 13. Children’s division entries will enter the parade north of the Presbyterian Church from Van Buren Street. Horse entries will enter the parade from the Auto Masters parking lot. The parade will turn west on MM Highway between John’s BP Amoco Food Shop and Pamida, proceed one block, then turn south on North Market and continue to Gallatin Lumber Company, where it will disband. The parade will proceed “rain or shine.”
The parade will start promptly at 4 p.m. Saturday to avoid conflicting with the remainder of the evening’s entertainment. Trophies will be given for the following five classes: commercial, non-commercial, open, bicycle, pet. Trophy winners will be announced at the main stage following the parade.
All registration will be handled at the entertainment tent (on the southeast corner of the courthouse lawn) between 1 and 3 p.m. Saturday. Numbers and placement in the parade lineup will be assigned at that time; however, you may still get a number at 3:30 p.m. during the final lineup if you are unable to register between 1 and 3 p.m.
Anyone who wishes to pre-register may also call parade chairman Sue Bird at 660-663-3235.
Participants are encouraged to be early. Children’s divisions (pets, bikes, and open) are to congregate at the Presbyterian Church to line up and register. They will enter the parade from Van Buren Street. Parents are urged to pick up their children at Gallatin Lumber Co. after the parade. Please be sure that your children are picked up or that they have instructions as to where to find a family member following the parade.
Joining the Chautauqua parade will be the Gallatin High School Band, as well as Little Mister and Little Miss Chautauqua 2004.
