According to a report by the Missouri Highway Patrol, two people received minor injuries in an accident at about 2:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 31.

The accident occurred as a vehicle driven by Walter Rose, 57, Mason City, Iowa, and a vehicle driven by Penelope Fergerson, 40, Kansas City, were northbound on I-35, two miles north of Cameron in DeKalb County. Vision became obscured by smoke from a stranded motorist on the shoulder. Mrs. Fergerson slowed due to the smoke. Mr. Rose ran into the back of her vehicle.

Both Mrs. Fergerson and a passenger in her vehicle, Richard Bieschke, 54, Jameson, were taken to Cameron Regional Medical Center by Cameron Ambulance. All involved were wearing their seat belts.

The accident was investigated by Tpr. J. Lynch, assisted by Tpr. J. Johnston, Trp. C. Taibi and the Cameron Police Department.

Mr. Rose’s 2001 Chevrolet Truck received extensive damage and was towed by Bridgemans of Altamont. Mrs. Fergerson’s 1993 Lincoln was totaled and towed by Bridgemans.

Summons is pending.

Two Winston women were involved in an accident at about 8:35 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 27, according to a report by the Missouri Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred as Shauna Phoung, 25, was westbound on Hwy. 69. A vehicle driven by Jette Simecek, 16, was southbound on Division Street and failed to yield, striking the Phoung vehicle in the rear side.

Mrs. Phoung received minor injuries and was taken to Cameron Regional Medical Center by Daviess County EMS. It is unknown if she was wearing her seat belt.

The Simecek’s 1992 Olds 88 was moderately damaged and towed by Bridgemans of Altamont. Ms. Simecek was wearing her seat belt.

The Phoungs’s 1999 Chevrolet Z24 received minor damage and was driven from the scene.

The accident was investigated by Tpr. Joseph R. Johnston, assisted by Cpl. P. Kimball, Cpl. R. Sherman and the Daviess County Sheriff.

A Lake Viking woman received moderate injuries in a two-vehicle accident at about 5:10 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 26, according to a report by the Missouri Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred as Benjamin Sutton, 19, Chillicothe, was southbound on Rt. U at Mo. 190, four miles east of Lock Springs in Livingston County. He failed to yield to a westbound vehicle driven by Jennifer Smith, 22, of Lake Viking, Gallatin. The vehicles collided and came to rest in the southwest corner of the intersection.

Mrs. Smith was taken to Hedrick Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe by Chillicothe EMS. She was not wearing her seat belt. Mr. Sutton was wearing his seat belt.

The Sutton’s 1997 Saturn received extensive damage and was towed by Gabrielson Tow of Chillicothe.

The Smith’s 1996 Dodge was totaled and towed by Gabrielson Tow of Chillicothe.

The accident was investigated by Trp. H. George, assisted by the Livingston County Sheriff.

Summons was issued to Sutton for failure to yield.
