Basket auction, talent and baby show, entertainment, much more
Final plans are being made for Rock Around the Clock for Relay for Life on Saturday, Aug. 28-29, on the courthouse square in Gallatin.
Relay for Life Chairperson Terry Pierce said luminarias will still be available for purchase on Saturday at the registration tent. Around 50-60 baskets full of goodies will be offered in a silent basket auction under the big tent. Relay organizers will be on the lookout for volunteers to participate in the “Queen of Relay” contest.
The schedule of events includes the following:
12 noon — Survivors luncheon a the Gallatin Senior Center, sponsored by the Gallatin Rotary Club.
1 p.m. — Opening ceremony; survivors introduced; first lap; family and friends walk; relay team participants begin walking. Silent basket auction also begins.
1-7 p.m. — Luminaria sales at registration tent.
2 p.m. — The Toney family will perform.
3 p.m. — Open.
4 p.m. — Talent Show, sponsored by Dance Essentials and J&J Seeds.
5 p.m. — Baby Show registration begins. Queen contestants will be introduced between the Talent Show and Baby Show. They will have two hours to collect donations for their votes.
5:30 p.m. — Baby Show, sponsored by Omega Sigma.
7:30 p.m. — Crowning of Queen of Relay.
8 p.m. Luminaria celebration.
9:30 p.m. — Local entertainment; Ann Wood and violin students; others may be added by Saturday.
10:30 p.m. — Sock Hop (street dance), sponsored by D.A.R.E.
12-6 a.m. — Night games for all Relay participants.
6 a.m. — Closing ceremony.
These times are subject to change. There will be lots of good food and great fun for everyone young and not so young.
