Daviess County Relay for Life

It’s time for the Fifth Annual American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life starting at 1 p.m. on Aug. 28 on the Daviess County Courthouse square. This is a celebration of cancer survivorship. A unique celebration of fun, fellowship, inspiration and hope. That is Relay for Life.

During Relay for Life, one person from each team is on the track at all times — symbolizing our refusal to stop fighting until cancer has been stopped. Meanwhile, other team members and supporters congregate for games, refreshments, activities, a street dance, a basket auction, and fellowship to keep the energy level up high.

When the sun goes down, luminarias will light up our town square. The candles are lit to pay tribute to those lost to cancer and to honor those still fighting. This ceremony of light symbolizes the hope and perseverance with which we all continue to fight.

Luminarias may be purchased for $5 each for “In Honor Of” or “In Memory Of” at the Daviess County Health Office, or by calling 663-3645 or 663-3432.
