The tax rate hearing was held prior to the regular meeting of the Gallatin Board of Aldermen on Monday, Aug 9 . No one present had any comments on the 2004 tax rate, which was set as follows:

General Revenue – .6077; Parks & Recreation – .2163; Band – .0200.

City Administrator Toby Dougherty informed the board that the street crew would be picking up the excess rock on the streets. The cool weather prevented the rock from working down into the oil which caused excess dust. The rock should be picked up by the end of next week.

Mr. Dougherty discussed the health insurance quotes.

Sheldon Turley inquired about an Eagle Scout project.

Police Chief Jim Wycoff informed the board that GAWA tried to adopt out a few dogs Sunday on the square. None were adopted.

Bills in the amount of $15,624.03, plus the electric bill, were approved for payment.

During old business, a resolution regarding the Park Usage Agreement was tabled.

During new business, Jerry Frost with Frost Insurance discussed the renewal for the city’s insurance rates.

After first and second readings a motion carried to pass an ordinance to re-establish a procedure to disclose potential conflicts of interest and substantial interests for certain officials of the city of Gallatin.

Present were Mayor John Thomas, aldermen Bob Snidow, Doyle Patton, Gene Caldwell and Pat Baker, City Administrator Toby Dougherty, Police chief Jim Wycoff, Matthew Turley, Sheldon Turley, Kim Turley and Jerry Frost.
