Cindy Mason, who joined the postal service as a part-time flexible clerk in 1988, was appointed postmaster of Pattonsburg effective July 10. The appointment was announced by Ormer Rogers, Jr., district manager.
Installation ceremonies are scheduled at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 13, at the Pattonsburg Post Office. Acting Manager, Post Office Operations, Pat Clark will administer the oath of office.
Cindy succeeds Virginia Thompson who retired Sept. 9, 2003. She takes over an office with four employees and delivers mail to two rural routes along with a post office box section.
Cindy brings extensive experience to her new position. She was the PTF clerk at the Pattonsburg Post Office for 12 years, spent one year as the secretary to the 644/646 manager, post office operations, and has been the postmaster at McFall since October 2000. She has served as the officer in charge at Breckenridge, McFall, Winston and for the past year at the Pattonsburg Post Office.
