July 27 meeting
President Daren Adkins called the July 27 meeting to order at the Breadeaux meeting room with 14 in attendance. Daren reported that the National Rotary is looking to place a female Taiwan student with a good family in the Gallatin area. He also reported having spoken with Allan Lunsford regarding the request for a contribution to the new building at the Daviess County Country Club. After discussion, Doyle Patton moved to contribute $500, and the motion was approved. Vicki Corwin, treasurer, acquired names of veterans to be commemorated by Rotary for the county courthouse cannon restoration project. Five names have been acquired, and Rotary will contribute $200. Vicki Corwin asked is Rotary would provide box lunches for cancer survivors at the Relay for Life on Aug. 28. Vicki moved to provide the box lunches at an approximate cost of $200. The motion passed, and three members express willingness to assist with the project. Doyle Patton recommended Rotary should improve public relations to attract new membership and inform the public of community projects which Rotary supports. Toby Dougherty suggested sending club minutes to the newspaper. Diane Wilson noted that the Rotary trash container on the corner of Market and Grand needs to be replaced. Doyle Patton volunteered to take care of it. The next meeting will be Tuesday, Aug. 3.
