During their regular meeting held July 15, the Winston R-6 Board of Education reviewed letters that had been submitted by interested persons seeking to fill the vacated position on the school board. Three candidates were chosen and asked to attend the August board meeting for interviews. The board will select the person for the position at their August meeting
In other business, the following bids were accepted for next school year: MFA Propane at Maysville for propane; Winston Pit Stop for diesel and gasoline; and Anderson-Erickson for milk products.
The board reviewed board policy updates and will have second readings of the policies at the August board meeting.
Curriculum revisions were adopted for K-12 English and elementary math and science.
Eligibility requirements were adopted for free and reduced meals for 04-05. Breakfast and lunch prices were set for next school year. Prices are the same as last year: $1 for elementary, high school and adult breakfast. Reduced breakfast is 30 cents for both elementary and high school. Lunch prices are: $1.75 for elementary, $2 for high school, and $2.25 for adults. Reduced lunch prices are 40 cents for both elementary and high school.
The board reviewed the final results of the 2003-2004 budget and discussed the tax rate for the 2004-2005 school year. The tax rate will be set at the August board meeting.
The budget statement for next school year was reviewed and approved.
Progress on summer projects was discussed.
Next year’s bus routes were approved.

Next meeting is at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 19 in the art room.
