Due to inclement weather, the Missouri State Highway Patrol sobriety checkpoint, which was scheduled for Daviess County on July 2, 2004, was canceled. Instead sobriety saturation was conducted on MO 6 and US 69 highways with the following results.

A total of 8 arrests and 33 warnings were issued as a result of the saturation. The total includes 1 arrest for driving while intoxicated, six moving violations and one non-moving violation. There were also a total of 5 field sobriety tests given during the saturation.

Captain Johnnie B. Hoggatt, Commanding Officer of Troop H, stated, “Daviess County has been identified as one of the counties in Troop H having a high frequency of alcohol-related crashes. The saturations and checkpoints are an effective way of finding and removing the impaired drivers who kill and injure many motorist each year in Missouri.”
