Opal G. Stephenson, 96, Gallatin, died Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at a health-care center.
Funeral services for Opal Stephenson were held Friday at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Burial was at Brown Cemetery, Gallatin. Memorials may be made to the Gallatin Christian Church Building Fund or Comfort Care Hospice.
Opal G. Stephenson, 96, Gallatin, died Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at a health-care center.
Mrs. Stephenson was born Oct. 27, 1907, to James M. and Clara “Terry” Houghton in Jameson. She attended Gallatin High School.
She married Ralph Stephenson on Oct. 27, 1925. They spent most of their married years in the Gallatin area. After 62 years of marriage, he died on May 10, 1977.
Mrs. Stephenson was employed at the North American Aircraft Plant in Kansas City during World War II. She was later employed in Gallatin working at Gann’s Department Store and later the Phyllis Shop.
Mrs. Stephenson was a member of the Christian Church in Gallatin, serving as a Sunday School teacher and a member of CWF.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Wilbur, Glenn, Wayne and Cleo Houghton; and three sisters, Hazel, Crystal and Bertha.
Survivors include one nephew Tut McAfee, Gallatin.
