The Gallatin Pamida and the Pamida Foundation announce the awarding of $500 to the Daviess County Senior Center and $500 to the Gallatin Fire Protection Districts. Funds for the grant were made possible by Pamida’s first Charitable Golf Outing held in October of 2000, which raised a total of $669,980 to be used towards fulfilling the Foundation’s goal of making a difference in Pamida hometowns and communities.

The grant to Daviess County Senior Center will be used toward purchasing a food slicer. The grant to the Gallatin Fire Protection District will be used toward purchasing bunker boots for volunteer firemen. The presentation of the checks was held recently in the Gallatin Pamida store.

“Pamida is committed to taking an active part in the continued growth and well being of our Gallatin community,” said Arlene Lewis, store team leader of the Gallatin Pamida. “We are proud to join with the Daviess County Senior Center and the Gallatin Fire Protection District in this important project.”

Michael Hopkins, Pamida president, explained, “At Pamida, corporate citizenship is more than a responsibility; it’s a privilege. We are proud to support a variety of charitable, family, and children’s organizations and community events, and are very pleased to support the Gallatin Senior Center and the Gallatin Fire Protection District.” [Staff Photos/TLH]
