Harry Ross McClure, 79, Olathe, Kan., died June 13, 2004, at the Olathe Medical Center after months of illness.
Funeral services for Harry McClure, a native of Jamesport, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the First Christian Church in Olathe. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Friday at the church. Interment will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the Masonic Cemetery in Jamesport. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church.
Harry Ross McClure, 79, Olathe, Kan., died June 13, 2004, at the Olathe Medical Center after months of illness.
Mr. McClure was born to Nona and Harry McClure at Jamesport on May 8, 1925. He attended Gallatin High School after which he served in World War II with the 80th Division of the Army under General Patton. He was awarded the Purple Heart and received an honorable discharge. He then attended State Teachers College at Maryville and Chillicothe Business College.
Mr. McClure was a member of the First Christian Church of Olathe, where he served as an elder, sang in the choir, and where he married Leona Fae Downing on June 14, 1953. They lived in Olathe.
Mr. McClure worked in menswear retail stores in Kansas City for 40 years as a salesman. He retired from Dillards in November 2003, after 15 years.
Mr. McClure is survived by his wife of 51 years, Leona; and one sister, Anna Mae Lamb of Payson, Utah.
