Brett Uthe, Winston High School junior, will be attending Missouri Boys State June 12-19 and a course over-viewing many engineering disciplines July 18-23.

Missouri Boys State is a workshop designed to develop leadership skills in high school juniors.

Students must be sponsored by certified groups to be able to attend this program. Students learn about the state’s government by going to schools of instruction, getting divided into imaginary cities and electing public offices to people in that city, and hands-on instruction.

Missouri Boys State is held at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg.

The Introductory to Mizzou Engineering Seminar was developed for high school juniors interested in the engineering career. This seminar is held at the University of Missouri-Columbia College of Engineering.

It is meant to give juniors a glimpse of the engineering field and helps students decide if this field is for them. Brett plans to attend the University of Missouri-Rolla to get a degree in mechanical

engineering.
