Gallatin Clubs

Gallatin Daughters of the American Revolution spring 2004 meeting was at the home of Nancy Terry. Vie Regent Beverly Ward began with a poem followed by opening ritual, pledge of allegiance to the flag and the American’s Creed. No minutes were read. Treasurer Fallis Froman

gave a report. There was discussion of changing meeting time to accommodate new members.

President General’s message was read by Beverly Ward. With no new business the progam was Dr. Sally K. Ride-Astronaut presented by Beverly Ward. Next meeting will be at the home of Mary Lee Froman-Ellis with report on state conference by Fallis Froman and Betty Huffman giving program on Marian Anderson, “Her Life-Singer.”

Chapter BQ P.E.O. Sisterhood elected the following officers in March: president, Marilyn Hemry; vice-president, Ann Everly; recording secretary, Leslie Stanley; corresponding secretary, Rachel Bradford; guard, Sherry Golden; treasurer, Sandy Ward; chaplain, Louise Taylor. We have had the opportunity to hear Charlotte Hamilton discuss the services provided by Access II Independent Living Center. Rev. Buck Cueni-Smith shared his experience when he visited Jordan, Israel and Egypt. Our own members have reported on P.E.O. projects. Mary Sue

Hamilton reported on our oldest project, the P.E.O. Educational Loan Fund which assists worthy women in securing a higher education. Shirley Weldon will be updating us on our new international student. The P.E.O. International Peace Scholarships fund provides scholarships for international students to pursue graduate study in the United States and Canada. Members picked up trash in our adopted section as part of the Gallatin Area Revitalization Alliance biannual

cleanup. We congratulate our P.E.O. scholarship recipient, Mitch Riley and Katie Ward. Shirley Walker will be our delegate to state convention in June in Columbia. Our next meeting will be at

the home of Susan Ann Aulgur on June 7.
