Under the direction of Chairman Doug Nichols the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital bike-a-thon was held May 8. Beautiful weather allowed 30 students to ride their bikes from 1-3 p.m.

This spring the bike-a-thon raised $850 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to help win the battle against childhood diseases.

Top money winner was first grader Garrett Pettit with $130 and fourth grade student Rachel Moore was a close second with $125.

The money raised will help with public education, patient services and research. The St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is the only research center in the world dedicated solely to the conquest of catastrophic childhood diseases.

With help from Gallatin Pamida and Cameron Wal-Mart, the Gallatin Police Department donated several bike helmets to the kids as door prizes. All the children who participated are appreciated,

as are the parents who helped, the Gallatin National Honor Society students, Mark Richards of the Gallatin Police Department, and to the people who gave money for such a great cause.
