Letter to the Editor from Grace Hickey

As the daughter of a WWII veteran, the wife of a Vietnam veteran, the mother of a Gulf War veteran and the mother of a Marine awaiting deployment, I can certainly agree that “war is hell” not only for those who serve but also for those who hope for their safe return.

I don’t think Madelynn Adkison was taking issue with Joe Snyder over the horrors of war. They are grim indeed and the scars never heal. She was, however, pointing out certain discrepancies in Joe’s statements over the last few months.

Thank God we live in a place where the press is free and one can write a column and others can disagree with the sentiments put forth. We can all have differing views on the same subject and that’s one of the reasons our country is so great.

Taking Maalox can be helpful when week after week, we read the work of a columnist who doesn’t appear to let facts interfere with his opinions. Sincerely,
