Criminal cases filed: State vs. Christopher Lance Bixby, possession of controlled substance, Class C felony; possession of controlled substance, Class A misdemeanor; possession of drug paraphernalia, Class A misdemeanor.

On May 10, probation was revoked for Timothy Vernon Bowers when the defendant admitted probation violations on an original charge of possession of a controlled substance – cocaine, Class C felony. He was sentenced to seven years in the Department of Corrections, execution of sentence suspended, and placed on supervised probation for five years. The case was heard by Judge Daniel Chadwick.

Law Day was conducted May 13 by Judge Stephen K. Griffin, and the following cases were heard:

A dissolution of marriage was granted to Ashley Corinne Towell from Michael David Towell.

In State of Missouri vs. Justin D. Vance, the defendant entered a guilty plea to the Class C

felony of forgery. Under a plea agreement, he was sentenced to three years in the Department of Corrections.

Christopher Lance Bixby plead guilty to one Class C felony count and one Class A misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance, and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, Class A misdemeanor. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered, and he was released on OR Bond (own recognizance) until the pre-sentence investigation is filed.

Theodore Pierre Jerry plead guilty to possession of a controlled substance, Class C felony, and speeding, Class C misdemeanor. The pre-sentence investigation was waived, and he was sentenced to three years in the Department of Corrections on the felony charge and five days in the county jail on the misdemeanor, sentences to run concurrently.

Earl E. Harding admitted probation violations, probation was revoked, and he was sentenced to five years in the Department of Corrections, on the original charge of driving while license revoked, Class D felony.

In State vs. Michael A Volner, the defendant plead guilty to two counts of non-support, Class D felony. The imposition of sentence was suspended, and he was placed on five years probation, with the condition of paying current support and an arrearage of $5,460.18.

Paul Kenneth Stanhope, on a plea agreement, plead guilty to an amended charge of non-support, Class A misdemeanor, and was placed on court-supervised probation for two years.

Melody Dawn First plead guilty to probation violations, probation was revoked, and she was sentenced to four years in the Department of Corrections, execution of sentence suspended. She was placed on probation for an additional five years.

A warrant was issued for Jerry Lee for failure to appear on a probation revocation hearing. Bond is set at $27,000 cash.

On May 14, in a case heard by Judge Warren McElwain, Karen M. Kless entered a guilty plea to the Class D felony of property damage 1st degree, pursuant to N.C. vs. Alford. On a plea agreement, the defendant waived the pre-sentence investigation, imposition of sentence was suspended, and she was placed on probation for five years with the condition of paying restitution of $4,502.87 plus costs.
