Funeral services for Dolores Carpenter were held Tuesday at the First Christian Church in Gallatin. Burial was at Hillcrest Cemetery, Gallatin. Arrangements were by McWilliams Funeral Home, Gallatin. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church Building Fund, Gallatin.

Dolores “Jeannie” Carpenter, 70, died Friday, April 30, 2004, at her home, near Gallatin.

Mrs. Carpenter was born Oct. 16, 1933, to Robert and Mary Frances “Clements” Macy in St.

Joseph. She graduated from Gallatin High School in 1951. After graduation she attended Stephens College in Columbia.

On Oct. 11, 1952, she married Herbert Carpenter in Gallatin. They moved to the family farm where they worked and made their home for 52 years.

Mrs. Carpenter was employed at the Gallatin High School for 14 years as head cook.

She was an active member of the Gallatin Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.) She served as a three time regent for the Gallatin chapter as well as chairman of several committees at

the local and state level. She also served on the Daviess County Health Board for over 20 years.

She was a member and a deacon of the First Christian Church in Gallatin, and belonged to the Blake Community Club.

Survivors include her husband, Herb, of the home; two sons, Dennis Carpenter, Dawson, Iowa, and Bert Carpenter, Gallatin; one daughter, Kelley Joy, Kearney; one brother, Dr. Robert Macy Jr., St. Louis; one sister, Phyllis Carder, Kansas City; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
