Carrie died in an automobile accident shortly after the induction ceremonies. She was a curator at the University of Missouri at the time of her death. The Carrie Francke Award is given to those persons who have made significant contributions to basketball in the state of Missouri.

Holley, who received the award at the 2004 MBCA Academic All-State Banquet, joins a group of distinguished Missourians who have received such recognition. Holley’s coaching record of 657 wins at four-year colleges in Missouri alone qualify him. He has, for many years, provided basketball camps for young people and served as the college representative on the MBCA Board. Holley, and William Jewell, also host the largest high school invitational basketball tournament.

Among former Carrie Francke Award winners are: Gary Filbert (2002), executive director and founder of MBCA; Norm Stewart (1996), former men’s basketball coach at the University of Missouri; and John Q. Hammons (1993), founder of the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame.
