Tim McCann, son of Dan and Rhonda McCann, earned the rank of Eagle Scout last fall and will be honored at an Eagle Court of Honor this Sunday, April 18, at 2 p.m. The ceremony and reception will be held at the Gallatin High School library. Friends and supporters of Troop 67 and Tim are invited to attend.

Boy Scout Troop 67 of Gallatin held a troop Court of Honor on Monday, April 12, at the Methodist Church. Merit badges earned since the last Court of Honor were awarded to almost every member of Troop 67. The following young men were further honored for their advancement in rank: Nathan Tague advanced to 1st Class Scout; Nick Rutherford, Kevin Corwin, Billy Kerns, Andrew Pierce and Phillip Arnold all advanced to Star Scout.

Nathan Tague was given the U.S. Heritage Award. Daniel Pierce was awarded three more palms, making a total of four palms. The palm is awarded for every five merit badges earned after a young man has become an Eagle Scout. Not only does the Eagle Scout have to work to earn those five badges, he must also stay active in the troop for three months for every palm he earns.

In further scout news, Scouts will be finishing up popcorn sales on the afternoon of April 25. They will meet at the fire station at 12:15 to sell in Liberty. Troop 67 will again be running concessions during the spring soccer season at the park. On May 14, interested scouts and leaders will camp overnight at and tour the SAC museum in Omaha. Summer plans include attending Camp Geiger July 18 through July 24.

In closing, at Monday’s Court of Honor, Senior Patrol Leader Jonathon Arnold announced that Troop 67 had earned a “2004 Quality Unit” award, which consists of a banner that will hang with the troop flag.
