After being given the option by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to reassign vocational affiliation, the Gallatin R-5 Board of Education chose during its March 18 meeting to send its vo-tech students to Grand River Technical School at Chillicothe starting in 2005-2006. The decision to switch was prompted by economic considerations and additional class offerings available at Chillicothe.
Vo-tech students will continued attending classes at Bethany next year as required by the state. By moving to Chillicothe in the new assignment year, the school expects to cut tuition costs by one-third and transportation costs by one-half by sharing with other schools going to Chillicothe.
Gallatin R-5 has again been invited to the “Hats Off” celebration for schools receiving 100 points out of 100 possible on the Annual Performance Report. The event will be held at 6 p.m. on May 6 at Maryville.
