Music students at North Daviess R-3 participated at the district music festival in Maryville on Friday, April 2. Several of them qualified to participate at the state music festival coming up at the end of April in Columbia. Receiving a “I” rating were the girls sextet of Crystal Cook, Melissa Youngs, Megan Shaul, Amber Merritt, Shannon Dutro and Felicia Nelson; the girls trio of Melissa Youngs, Crystal Cook and Nicole Ray, accompanied on the flute by Breanna Weber; and a bass clarinet solo by Jamie Estes.
Other events and ratings were II” ratings to Melissa Youngs and Crystal Cook for vocal solos, and Felicia Nelson for her trumpet solo; “III” ratings to the high school band, Catherine Jones for her flute solo and Beth Morris for her snare drum solo.
