Sponsor Heather Cole introduced the 2003-04 basketball cheerleaders–captains Katie Heldenbrand (4 yr. letterwinner) and Haleigh Tague, Carri Harris, Malorie Love, Allie Michener and Lindy Stanhope, and mascot Alicia McKee.
Coach Barron Gann reviewed the wrestling season that saw the Bulldogs finish 2-7 in dual meets and first at the Gallatin Invitational Tournament. Four wrestlers–Clayton Baker, Klint Kloepping, John Runde and Adam Strein won at least 20 matches this season.
Wrestling honorees, with their awards and accomplishments, were: Baker (all-GRC, sectional qualifier, 5th at state, most near falls, most takedowns, most improved), Danny Clevenger (all- GRC), Rusty Hendricks (sectional and state qualifier, 4 yr. letterwinner), Daniel Horvatin (all- GRC, sectional and state qualifier), Kloepping (all-GRC, 5th at state, sportsmanship award, most valuable wrestler), Marc Maillet (sectional qualifier, co-rookie of the year), Brandon Meritt, Tim McCann, Riley Rains (all-GRC, sectional qualifier, most reversals, co-rookie of the year), Mark Robbins (mr. hustle), Runde (all-GRC, sectional qualifier, most near falls), John Steele and Adam Strein (all-GRC, sectional and state qualifier, most pins, most near falls, most escapes, coach’s award).
Coach Rick Lin talked about the recently completed girls basketball season. The Lady Bulldogs finished 4-4 in the GRC, 12-13 overall (12-3 junior varsity) and 2nd in the Hamilton Tournament.
Recognized were, with special awards and proficiency honors in various categories: Ayrica Batson, Amy Hudlemeyer, Denelle Rhoades, Kinsey Batson (most improved), Maria Burge, Katie Jarboe, Taylor Henderson, Trisha Sprague (3 pt. %, FT %, rebound award, all-GRC unanimous choice, KMZU and KAAN all-star teams), Cassie Carder, Kelsie Parker, Emily Gay (FG %, rebounds, all-GRC honorable mention, defensive player of the year), Brittney Hixson (FG %), Lindsey Robertson (3 pt. %, all-GIT team), Keira Story (captain, FG %, rebounds) and Katie Ward (captain, all-LIT team, all-GRC honorable mention).
Coach David Prather, the Northwest District Class 2 Coach of the Year, reviewed the boys’ 21-8 season and its accomplishments– 5-3 GRC record, 21-8 overall with district and sectional titles and quarterfinal appearance.
Members of the boys team recognized were: Justin Duffy, Kevin Turley, Andrew Adkison, Nic Burrell, Brett Wilkinson, Levi Alden, Kyle Andrew, Dillon Bird, J. B. Stevens, Aaron Everly, Kyle Hefley, Garett Houghton, Marcus Lacy, Drayson Leeper, Jason McGee, Tyler Nichols, Duke Burge (all-GRC honorable mention), Patrick Dickinson, Colby Swanstone (all-GRC first team, all-district, KAAN all-star) and Jeremiah Gibson (all-GRC unanimous choice, all-district, KAAN, KMZU and KKWK all-star teams, Bulldog award).
Managers and statisticians honored for their contributions to wrestling and basketball teams included: Hattie Rains, Kara Kloepping, Kathy Walker, Alli McLaughlin, Stephanie Phelps (4 yr. letterwinner), Samantha Bridgeman, Whitney Ray, Katie Patton and Sheldon Turley (camera man).
