Gallatin FCCLA members Haleigh Tague and Whitney Wright were given the opportunity to participate in the Legislative Shadowing Project on March 2 and 3. Through the project, the FCCLA members were able to witness first hand the process of interpreting and setting public policy focused on family, work, and social issues related to building strong communities.

Haleigh shadowed Rep. Jim Whorton and Whitney shadowed Rep. John Quinn. The event started Tuesday night with a banquet and a dinner. Wednesday the girls attended a small meeting in the governor’s office. They were able to meet and take pictures with Gov. Bob Holden. Haleigh and Whitney were introduced on the House and Senate floors. The committee of Natural Resources and Agricultural met and allowed Haleigh and Whitney to be members. It was a great two days for the girls and a good opportunity for any junior or senior FCCLA member. [Submitted Photo]
