Memorial services for Rodney Williams, a native of Daviess County, were held Saturday at The Gathering Place in Independence.

Rodney Ray Williams of Independence, died March 22, 2004, at the Medical Center of Independence.

Mr. Williams was born on April 2, 1945, in Daviess County, the son of Othe and Wilma Williams. He graduated from Coffey High School.

Mr. Williams worked for Ford Motor Company in Kansas City for several years before beginning his own business as owner and operator of Phar Lap Electric.

He married Myrna C. Wade on Sept. 18, 1965.

Mr. Williams was a patriarch/evangelist of the Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Survivors include his wife Myrna, of the home; two sons, Rodney Lynn Williams and Doug Houchen, both of Independence; two daughters, Tammy Slaybaugh of Blue Springs, and Debi Klick of Independence; two brothers, Woodrow Williams of Belton, and Lynn Williams of Pattonsburg; two sisters, Carolyn Toney of Gallatin, and Anita Whitaker of Cameron; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
