Presentations to two Chillicothe families have pushed total area donations from Farmers’ Electric’s Area Youth Benefit Fund over the quarter of a million dollar mark.
The presentations were made just prior to the monthly board of director meeting at Farmers’ Electric’s office in Chillicothe. The Area Youth Benefit Fund is also preparing to make an additional donation to a Polo family in the near future, Bryan said.
“We will also be making a donation to Children’s Mercy Hospital, designating that an account be paid on medical bills in each of the nine counties the AYBF covers,” Dan Bryan, executive vice- president/CEO of Farmer’s Electric Cooperative.
The AYBF was established in February of 1993 as a 501(c)3 charity organization for the purpose of providing financial assistance toward the payment of medical bills for children 18 years of age and under. The fund is designed to assist families with children who have been ill or injured, in which the parents do not have enough money or health insurance to cover the medical costs.
The fund primarily operates in the counties of Linn, Chariton, Livingston, Carroll, Ray, Caldwell, Daviess, DeKalb and Clinton. Those seeking assistance from the AYBF do not have to be members of Farmers’ Electric Cooperative. A separate board of directors was named to administer the AYBF.
Total donations for the charity are expected to top the $285,000 mark before the end of the year.
Fund raising events for the Area Youth Benefit Fund will include the annual banquet and auction on Sunday, Aug. 15, and golf tournament on Aug. 16.
Tickets for the banquet and auction will go on sale in June. Reservations for the golf tournament are being accepted now.
