The Winston R-6 Board of Education accepted the resignation from Coach Lewis as the girls basketball coach for the 2004-05 school year during their regular meeting held March 18.
The Winston R-6 Board of Education accepted the resignation from Coach Lewis as the girls basketball coach for the 2004-05 school year during their regular meeting held March 18. Mr. Lewis will continue as boys varsity basketball coach, softball coach, JH boy’s coach and athletic director.
The board also accepted the resignation from Lee Warford as varsity girls softball coach and elementary boys basketball coach. Mr. Warford will continue as the junior high girls basketball coach and elementary girls basketball coach. He accepted the position as the varsity girls basketball coach.
Resignations from Donna Hamer, music instructor, and Bobbie Hanson, family and consumer science instructor, were accepted, effective at the end of the 2003-04 school year.
The CTA salary committee presented material for possible salaries for the next school year.
The board discussed possible levels of salary increases for 2004-2005.
High School Principal David Michael reported an enrollment of 86 in grades 7-12 with a 91% attendance rate for February. Fifty-six percent of parents attended the Parents as Teachers (PAT) Conference.
Elementary Principal Lisa Bielby reported an enrollment of 19 in preschool and119 in grades kindergarten through sixth with a 94% attendance rate for February. She reported 91% attendance at the PAT conference. Fifty-five percent of the elementary students were on the honor roll.
The board heard a report on MSIP and began work on preparing for the MSIP review scheduled for January of 2006.
Mrs. Bielby stated the teacher’s had been involved in an inservice on Wednesday, March 17, as a follow up to a reading inservice that was held in December.
The board reviewed and approved a professional development program.
Cindy Ball was hired as custodian for the rest of the 2003-2004 school year. Annette Lucassuen was hired as part time cook for 2003-2004.
During executive session, the board review certified and non-certified personnel evaluations and extra duty assignments. Certified personnel, non-certified staff and extra duty contracts were offered as recommended by the administration.
The calendar of events was reviewed and approved. The board set the date to reorganize the board at 7 p.m. on April 19.
The sick leave policy was amended to include maternity leave. The attendance policy was amended. Changes in the At Risk policy were discussed. The issue was tabled until the next meeting.
The board discussed the summer school program.
The next meeting date was set for Monday, April 19.
