Xi Xi Beta, Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi; Daviess County Business Women’s Association; Knee-Hi 4-H Club
Xi Xi Beta, Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met March 2 at the home of Lesa Leeper. There were 10 members present. The minutes of the February meeting were read and approved. The upcoming social (jewelry party at Colleen’s), Ways and Means project, Founders Day (April 17), and other chapter business were discussed. The program topic was “How to Survive a Wedding” by Lori McLaughlin. Next meeting is at 7:30 on Tuesday, April 6, at the home of Misse Tolen.
Twenty members of the Daviess County Business Women’s Association met for their monthly dinner meeting on March 9 at Lynch’s deli. Hostesses were Patty Heldenbrand and Lois Houghton. Lola Critten, scholarship chairman, announced that letters for scholarship applications had been mailed to the Daviess County high schools, with a deadline of April 1. President Pam Howard reminded members that the club will hostess the April birthday party at the Lake Viking Care Center on the 22nd. Final plans will be discussed at the April meeting. Norma Griffin won the birthday raffle. The program consisted of games with an Irish theme and winners were Mary Ellen Baker and Candy Hughes. Mary Virginia Croy won the prize for wearing the best green ensemble in honor of St. Patrick’s Day.
The Knee-Hi 4-H Club met on Feb. 15 at Sharky’s Skate Center in Cameron to go roller skating. Nineteen members were in attendance. The club held their regular meeting on March 10 at the Christian Church Fellowship Hall. The meeting was called to order by Leader Alicia Chrisman. Taylor Sheldon led the pledge and Maggie Strange led the 4-H pledge. The club received a thank you letter from Sgt. Daniel Hobbs and his battalion stationed in Iraq. They had sent a Christmas package. Items will be collected at the next meeting to send to servicemen from our area to celebrate Easter. Contest and Achievement Days were discussed. Breanne Brammer reminded the members to wash fresh fruits before eating them to get rid of pesticide residue. The next meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14, at the Christian Church Fellowship Hall.
