City Administrator Toby Dougherty discussed the cost estimates on the sewer project, which came in significantly higher than the original estimates during the regular meeting of the Gallatin Board of Aldermen held March 8. Mr. Dougherty is working with USDA and CDBG to try to increase the city’s grant amounts.

Gallatin Police Chief Jim Wycoff stated that the Missouri Supreme Court has passed the concealed weapon law and the board needs to consider an ordinance for not allowing concealed weapons in city buildings. City Administrator Toby Dougherty will prepare an ordinance for this.

An ordinance amending the budget of the city of Gallatin for the fiscal year 2004 carried after first and second readings.

Mr. Dougherty stated that Galaxy Cable is re-doing their head station to provide digital cable and high speed Internet to the Gallatin area. Galaxy is hoping to offer these services by the end of the month. The franchise is renewable next year.

Mr. Dougherty informed the board that the city received the pay off for truck #8 from Shelter Insurance on the accident earlier this year.

He commented that the meter reading has been changed to start on the first working day of the month and should be completed within five working days. This will provide more consistent periods between billing cycles and allow the utility bills to be mailed out earlier.

Bills in the amount of $117,540.23 were approved for payment.

During comments by aldermen, Mr. Snidow inquired about Galaxy Cable, Harrison County Bridge and the police car which was impounded as evidence in the Mike Bailey case.

Gene Schweizer commented on the 2004 budget and employee salaries.

The above are the unapproved minutes of the regular meeting for the city of Gallatin held on Monday, March 8, at city hall. Present were Mayor John Thomas; aldermen Norma Griffin, Bob Snidow, Gene Caldwell; City Administrator Toby Dougherty; Police Chief Jim Wycoff; City Clerk Autumn Acree; Abel Perez, Bud Kirkendoll Gene Schweizer, Pat Baker, Lisa Gutzmer, Kim Cornett, Mary Shepard, Doyle Patton and Becky Wycoff.
