Eugene Holcomb, 72, Bethany, died March 6, 2004, at a Bethany care center.
Funeral services for Eugene Holcomb, a native of Daviess County, were held at 3 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Roberson Funeral Home in Bethany. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Bethany, with military rites by VFW Post #2176 and American Legion Post #216 of Bethany and VFW Post #5329 and American Legion Post #106 of Albany. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Zion Cemetery and/or Coffey Baptist Church and/or Gideon Bible Program, in care of the Roberson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 46, Bethany, 64424.
Eugene Holcomb, 72, Bethany, died March 6, 2004, at a Bethany care center.
Mr. Holcomb was born on Oct. 11, 1931, in Daviess County, the son of John Cecil and Jessie Carol (Foster) Holcomb.
He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the Army.
Mr. Holcomb retired as a floor manager for Hy-Vee Food Store in Bethany. After retirement, he worked for the South Harrison High School in Bethany for six years.
He was a member of the Coffey Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was also a member of the Gideon’s Bible Program.
On Feb. 9, 1952, he married Eunice Holley in Bethany.
Mr. Holcomb was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Ida; and one brother, Alan Lynn Holcomb.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Eunice; one son, Mark of Kansas City; one daughter, Cynthia Wooden of Pattonsburg; one sister, Janet R. Hendren of Bethany; two brothers, J. Gary of Pattonsburg and Lane of Holt; one stepsister Twila Halter of Maysville; one stepbrother, Larry Pittsenbarger of Blue Spring; one granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter.
