ET1/ss Danny Lee Price retired from the United States Navy on Jan. 31 with over 20 years of faithful service to his country. A1982 graduate of Gallatin, he is the son of Roger and Kay Price of Altamont.
Petty Officer Price started his career by enlisting in the Navy on January 16, 1984, and attending Bootcamp and Radioman “A” school in San Diego, Calif. Transferring to Groton, Conn., he attended Basic Submarine School, Radioman “C” School.
Radioman Price began his Submarine duty onboard the USS City of Corpus Christi (SSN-705)
in September, 1985, and continued until February,1990. He completed numerous cruises, including two six-month Mediterranean deployments and two trips to Corpus Christi, Texas.
He then transferred to Naval Submarine School, Groton, Conn. in February, 1990, where he taught communication electronics in the Radioman “C” school. In May 1993 Petty Officer Price returned to sea, this time on the USS Annapolis (SSN-760). He was again Stationed in Groton, Conn. While onboard the USS Annapolis Petty Officer Price made one Mediterranean deployment and two Northern deployments along with two trips to Annapolis, Md.
Petty Officer Price returned in April,1997, to Naval Submarine School, Groton, Conn., under the title of electronics technician. He taught in the newly named SSN Exterior Communications Systems Maintenance school.
“I now live in Old Lyme, Conn., where I am looking to begin a new career,” Mr. Price said.
His wife Connie is a third grade teacher at Lyme Elementary School, Lyme, Conn. They have two daughters, Amber, 13, and Tanya, 10.
“I will always call Gallatin and Altamont my home as I lived there until I joined the Navy in 1984,” he said.
New Year’s Winter Kickoff
The U-10 CFC Comets won the New Year’s winter kickoff tournament at the Sports Domain in Winsted, Conn. The Comets’ sole loss came in the opener to Academica Red, 1-0. The Comets then beat Watertown 2-0 on goals by Ariana Heter and Julia Copriano; the team defeated Academica White 1-0 on a goal by Lia Gagliardi; they beat Watertown 2-0 in the semifinals on two goals by Tanya Price; and won the final over Academica Red 2-0 on goals by Price and Jessica Broadbent. Goalkeeper Allison Martino posted four shutouts. Tanya is the daughter of Danny and Connie Price, formerly of the Gallatin and Altamont area. Her grandparents are Roger and Kay Price of Altamont.
