Funeral services for Virgil Perks will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at Poland- Thompson Chapel, Cameron. Visitation is from 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Cameron Memory Gardens.

Virgil M. Perks, 74, Weatherby, died Feb. 10, 2004, at Liberty Hospital.

Mr. Perks was born on Aug. 3, 1929, in Alva, Okla., to Melvin and Martha (Joslin) Perks.

He was a road construction laborer.

Mr. Perks served in the National Guard in Alva, Okla., and was a member of the Laborers Local Union #579, St. Joseph.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Theodore, and one sister, Leona.

Mr. Perks married Helen M. Walters on Oct. 22, 1953. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Judy Leer of Weatherby, Rhonda Barnes of Platte City; four brothers, Norman of Alva, Okla., James of Gower, John of Elwood, Kan., Robert of St. Joseph; two sisters, Beulah Searle of Stewartsville, and Mary Hamilton of Chickesha, Okla.; two stepbrothers; five stepsisters; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
