James Lewis, bridge supervisor, met with the commission reporting routine matters. State bridge inspections are complete. They also discussed the petition for the vacation of the road in Grand River Township and the necessity of the petitioner to obtain one more landowner’s signature. James will notify the landowner.

Tom Kober, Landmark Manufacturing, met with the commission regarding the pending renewal of the maintenance contract for the asphalt road to the plant. The 2003 payment was made by Landmark to the maintenance fund.

The commission discussed the township equipment grant policy, making an amendment lowering the amount of the grant award to townships not meeting all the criteria.

Danny Heldenbrand reported attending a meeting Jan. 29 in Cameron. Also in attendance were commissioners from Caldwell, Clinton and DeKalb Counties. Discussions involved common problems including law enforcement and economic development.

David Tolen and David Holcomb attended a meeting of the Green Hills Regional Planning Commission on Jan. 29 in Trenton.

Jonathan Arnold, Boy Scout Pack 67, met with the commission delivering copies of two grant applications for the cannon carriage project.

The courthouse will be closed Thursday, Feb. 12 for Lincoln’s birthday and Monday, Feb. 16 for President’s Day.
