Homecoming activities at Winston High School will center around varsity basketball games this Friday night against the visiting Newtown-Harris Tigers.

Homecoming activities at Winston High School will center around varsity basketball games this Friday night against the visiting Newtown-Harris Tigers. Activities begin at 2:30 p.m. in the afternoon with a pep rally in the gymnasium and conclude with a school dance that ends at 11:30 p.m.

Following the pep rally there will be K-1 girls basketball at 4:45 p.m. and K-1 boys basketball at 5 p.m. The senior class concession stand will also open at 5 p.m. The National Anthem will be sung prior to the 6 p.m. varsity girls game by “The Redbird Trio”–Marilyn (Caldwell) Clark `72, Vicki (Heldenbrand) Kumm `74 and Tracy Clark `02. The varsity boys game begins at 7:15 p.m. Winston cheerleaders will perform a dance routine during halftime.

The coronation ceremony follows directly after the boys game. Homecoming candidates include: freshman–Lindsey Olsen and Daniel V. Williams, sophomores–Andrea Egbert and Scott Neth, juniors–Jackie Lee and Brett Uthe, senior–Darcy Kumm and Damien Youtsey, student council–Samantha Olsen and Chrispin Buckner and basketball–Cassie Barker and Ryan Van Wye.

Winston students have taken part in a number of spirit week activities, including PJ Day on Monday, Little Kid Day on Tuesday, Punk Rock Day on Wednesday and Twin Day on Thursday. Friday is Red and Black Day.
