County Commission

James Lewis, bridge supervisor, met with the commission reporting progress on state bridge inspections and the cutting of brush around county bridges.

The commission reviewed end of year reports.

The current cafeteria plan for employees was discussed. AFLAC will be contacted for a presentation.

Danny Heldenbrand moved to accept the same schedule of holidays for 2004 as the State of Missouri submitted. David Holcomb seconded. Carried.

Erman Call, Jamesport Township landowner, met with the commission regarding the status of a road in Jamesport Township, section 36 on the Grundy County line. He was informed that the road had been closed by abandonment. After checking the description on his deed, he may place the fence on the property line.

Reta Rains, treasurer, met with the commission concerning wiring in her office to network with the assessor’s and county clerk’s office. Her 2004 budget was also discussed and tentatively approved. Also tentatively approved were the commission, assessor and road and bridge budgets. The extension office will be funded on the same level as 2003, with increases made when a second specialist is added.

The commission discussed the recorder’s salary. Representative Whorton’s office was contacted regarding the previously requested Attorney General’s opinion. The commission will abide by the opinion when it is received.

Due to the holiday on Monday (January 19), the commission will meet on Tuesday next week.
