Funeral services for Gerald Stewart, a member of Gallatin’s Seventh-day Adventist Church, were held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, Des Moines, Iowa, with burial in Glendale Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.

Gerald W. Stewart, 85, died Wednesday, January 7, 2004, at Kavanagh House.

Mr. Stewart was born April 23, 1918 in Des Moines, Iowa, and lived in Arkansas and Trenton, before returning to Des Moines.

He served in the Army during WWII, receiving the Purple Heart Medal and retired as a postal worker for the U.S. Postal Service.

Mr. Stewart was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, American Veterans and the Seventh-day Adventist in Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve Smith; a son, Orville; and a daughter, Katherine May.

Survivors include three sons, Glenn, Gerald and George; and grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
