James Lewis, bridge supervisor, met with the commission reporting routine repairs being made. Also, he reported that the State Highway Department is about to begin the biennial bridge inspections of county bridges.
Betty Harmison, assessor, met with the commission submitting a copy of her two-year maintenance plan to the commission and also to the State Tax Commission.
The commission discussed the 2004 budget for the bridge department, making adjustments in some categories from last year. Engineering firms were contacted for advice on the costs of the three BRO bridges scheduled to be built this year.
The commission also contacted Community Health for estimates on health insurance premiums for 2004. They were advised that premiums are increasing an average of 18%.
Above are the approved minutes of Jan. 5, 2004. The following members were present: David Tolen, presiding commissioner; Danny Heldenbrand, second district commissioner; and Linda Steward, county clerk.
The courthouse will be closed Monday, January 19, in observance of Martin Luther King day.
